team:abunai (pronounced 'aboo-nigh') is an evolving artists' collective featuring experimental and dangerous artists from all over the world. we're brought together by a common need to create new and challenging pieces of art, music, fiction, video and even cooking.
the team was founded more or less in kyoto, japan in 2001. at least that is when and where the name was coined. one could say that team:abunai existed a couple years before this, in the form of the collective actions of phlar, corey lyons, and a few other key people that happened to attend a small college called antioch in yellow springs, oh.
in 2003 to 2004, most of the original crew of team:abunai relocated to chicago, although a significant amount landed in san francisco. after about a year of re-organizing, adjusting, moving and what not, in november 2004 we launched this website and began to take things to the next level (that's level two if you're keeping count). more and more people are finding us and digging it, and we keep on meeting more and more people that we're into as well. we've grown from a small group of friends making art and music together to an international network of crazy ass people.
so we're always growing, always trying to do new things, and always down to put new people on. we have many plans for the future, including events, expanding the apparel line, releasing compilation CDs and LPs, and more. and of course, we're always open to new ideas, new alliances and helping out other people, collectives and organizations with similar interest. for more info email danger@teamabunai.org
